Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) is an all-in-one platform to create, organize, and collaborate and make work easier. Workspace includes multiple collaboration and productivity tools, including Docs, Sheets, Google Meet, Calendar, Slides, Chat, Drive, and Gmail. 

Google Workspace was founded in 2006 and has been rebranded multiple times. It’s great for businesses of all sizes and has over 8M paying customers.

Google Workspace offers 4 plans and 3 add-ons. Prices start at $6 per user for Business Starter and go up to $18 per user for Business Plus. Each plan comes with a free 14-day trial, which can be used to try out different features of a Google Workspace plan before committing to it for the long term.

• AppSheet: It starts at $5 per user. Develop and test your apps with 10 users, connect to cloud file storage providers, and access a separate AppSheet database.

They offer a 20% discount on annual plans. Nonprofits get a separate pricing plan starting at $3 per user for Business Standard, $5.04 for Business Plus, and 70% off on the Enterprise Plan.  

There’s also a free Google Workspace plan for nonprofits. It offers 100-participant video meetings, 30GB of cloud storage per user, security and management protocols, professional emails at the nonprofit’s domain, and standard support.

How much does Google Workspace cost?

Google Workspace pricing varies between $6/month per user and $18/month per user. It offers 4 plans: Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, and Enterprise. Every Google Workspace services include Gmail, Google Drive, Meet, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and more.

Higher-priced plans have increasingly advanced features and more storage.

Which Google Workspace Should You Select?

Go for the Business Starter plan if:

• You have a small team that needs around 30GB of storage per user 
• You want to make your own email addresses with your domain name 
• You plan to have video meetings with 100 participants
• You don’t need enhanced support or advanced controls 

Business Standard is $6 more expensive per month per user than Starter. It’s worth the extra investment if you:

• Need all features from Business Starter with per-user storage of 2TB 
• Video meetings with 100-150 participants 
• Plan on upgrading to enhanced support later
• Need appointment booking pages to book meetings through your Google Calendar 
• Require moderation and security controls 
• Want custom branding for your documents

Business Plus costs $6 more per month per user than Standard. It’s for larger businesses who need:

Google Workspace has 4 add-ons:

• Enhanced and Premium Support: Enhanced support offers accelerated response times with priority multi-channel support. Premium support minimizes business disruption further with a 15-minute response time for P1 cases. It also comes with a Technical Account Manager and customer-aware support for your business.  
• Duet AI: A generative AI assistant that helps you draft emails, build presentations, create meeting notes, and perform other handy tasks. It costs $19/month per user on a 12-month commitment. 
• Voice: Connect your carrier to Google Voice and stay connected via phone and laptop. Make calls, send SMSs, and block spam calls. Plans start at $10/user per month offering 10 users, and go up to $30/user per month, offering unlimited users.    
• AppSheet: A no-code platform to develop and test apps. The Starter Plan costs $5/user per month and offers basic automation features with DuetAI for app creation. Core starts at $10/user per month and offers everything in Starter plus advanced automation and application security controls. Enterprise Plus is also a custom plan and offers everything in other plans plus enhanced application security, governance controls, and the ability to connect to enterprise data services.

Google Workspace Discounts

Google Workspace offers a 20% annual discount on each plan. Business Starter costs $7.20/user per month or $6/user per month with a 1-year commitment. The Business Standard costs $14.40/user per month and $12/user per month with the 1-year commitment.

Nonprofits can use the Business Starter plan for free with 100TB of shared storage. Business Standard for non-profits is available at a 79% discounted price and costs $3/user per month on a 1-year commitment and $3.60/user per month when billed monthly. Business Plus for nonprofits offers a 76% discount and costs $5.04/user per month on a 1-year commitment and $6.05/user per month when billed monthly. The Enterprise plan for non-profits is available at a 70% discount.

Google Workspace also offers custom pricing for students and educational institutions.
