The Emailvendorselection story
This is a bit of a different one than you may expect.
Our founder, Jordie van Rijn was already working at an agency for 8 years, head of email marketing department. They always worked with the tools that their clients had. (a lot of them!) First he made a selection process and guide for internal use, to help brands out in their selections. Only after a big market research, Email Vendor Selection was founded in 2009. At that time there were no quality publications for marketers for software selection help.
The site started very basic, only a long list of email marketing and marketing automation providers we knew from the years before and some tips and articles on the selection process. This later became the Email Service Provider List, now having over 400 ESPs.
Once the site started getting popular among email marketers. We got more questions and industry experts started reaching out to write articles about email marketing and vendor selection. So we added more guides.
We got lots of recurring questions like:
- What’s the best tool other than Mailchimp?
- What are the best free email marketing tools?
- How do you select a good tool? Can you help us?
After answering each for -nth time, we started doing individual reviews and put our knowledge into full reviews of handpicked email platforms. Now we were getting more questions about CRM software, ecommerce platforms, landing page builders, and SMS marketing tools. That’s when we expanded the team and really got going.
Meet Our Team of Tool Experts
Jordie van Rijn is the Founder of Email Vendor Selection. He has over 15 years of hands-on experience as an independent email marketing consultant with his company emailmonday. He is an email marketing blogger, speaker and consultant. Companies like Scania, KLM, Unilever, AEGON, CZ, FNV, and NRC Media have asked him for advice.
Mor Mester is the Head of Content Marketing at Email Vendor Selection. He has 6+ years of experience in email marketing and marketing automation. Having tested and reviewed 100+ email marketing, marketing automation, CRM, ecommerce, SMS marketing, email verification, online course, and lead generation tools, he knows good business software when he sees one.
Paul Newham is a B2B Technology Researcher and Senior Writer. He specialises in business blogging, report writing, software reviews, and online copywriting. He tested over 60 business software in the past 5 years, including email marketing tools, CRMs, outreach services, SMTP providers, email verification, and AI writing tools. With a background in journalism and PR, he knows what makes for great and engaging copy.
Mariam Alli is a Content Editor. She’s also a Women for Email member for the 3 years and has email marketing experience. Her responsibilities include site management and editing content.
