Salesforce Marketing Cloud Company history
More than a decade ago, three businessmen recognized that organizations needed a way to communicate with their customers using a “new” medium called email. ExactTarget was the result. ExactTarget was founded in late 2000, quickly growing to a $11.5 million digital marketing automation company in its’ second year. The ExactTarget Interactive Marketing Hub was released in 2010 after a redesign of its’ user interface.
ExactTarget filed for an IPO in 2007, but raised $145 million in funding and withdrew its filing two years later.In 2012 ExactTarget raised $161.5 million going to the Stock market, before being acquired by Salesforce for $2.5 billion in 2013. Companies acquired include CoTweet, Pardot, iGoDigital and Keymail Marketing. In October 2014, just before the Salesforce Dreamforcce conference, the solution was renamed to Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
