Sage North America is taking steps into the world of email marketing or E-marketing as they call it. This week they announced the their new SageCRM v7.1 for small and midsize businesses. This version has several new components including iPhone, social media and Sage email marketing (or E-Marketing) integrations.
Data and availability
Dan Wilzoch, senior vice president and general manager of Sage CRM Solutions puts data in the driversseat with access as co-navigator as quoted in the pressrelease:
“SageCRM gives businesses the freedom to choose how, where and when they manage critical customer information,” said. “Secure access on desktops, mobile devices and the web, along with extended Sage Connected Services functionality, help users work with data in whichever manner best suits them.”
The e-marketing part of SageCRM v7.1 includes:
A subscription-based connected service for managing email marketing campaigns. Simple controls help users execute campaigns quickly with templates, web forms, automation for managing drip marketing campaigns with multiple emails, and reporting open and click-through metrics.
The big question
The email marketing part doesn’t sound that spectacular yet, but as they claim to have 10,000 organisations using their product on-premise or hosted, there are bound to be plenty who will use these functionalities even when they didn’t do any email marketing before.
Question is how Sage will guide the newly found email market of their small and midsize users into proper deployment and email marketing training. And how they will handle the inevitable deliverability challenges, both for on-premise and hosted versions. Don’t worry, we sent an email to Dan and his staff asking just that, to be continued….
