Cactus Connect

The Cactus time-line begins in 1994 when Scott Sanfilippo and Joe Palko pioneered one of the first online stores, TheFerretStore.com. Sanfilippo and Palko grew that home-based pet store into a company comprised of nearly 40 pet-related stores. This was the foundation for starting the web design firm Solid Cactus in 2001. Since then, the company has designed or redesigned over 3,500 online stores and built several software applications, such as the e-mail marketing platform, Cactus Connect. In 2009, Solid Cactus was acquired by Web.com, a provider of online tools and marketing services for small businesses. Today the Cactus team works out of the Cactus Technology Center, a former elementary center in Shavertown, Pennsylvania -- a mountainous municipality just outside the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area.
